Xiaomi, renowned for its expansive range of electronic devices, has made a remarkable entrance into the electric vehicle (EV) market. With the introduction of its inaugural electric car, the SU7 sedan, demand surged akin to fireworks igniting the night sky. The company proudly announces over 100,000 registrations from enthusiastic buyers, with non-refundable deposits secured for 40,000 of these reservations. Such an overwhelmingly positive initial response hints at the potential for an EV sensation in the making.
Founder Lei Jun personally attended the inaugural round of SU7 deliveries at Xiaomi’s production facility in Beijing, declaring, “The era of smart cars’ true transformation has commenced, and China is poised to witness the emergence of a Tesla-caliber company.”
Available in three variants – the standard model, the long-range Pro edition, and the performance-oriented Max version – the SU7 offers versatility to cater to diverse preferences. The top-tier Max model, with a starting price of €38,700, remains competitively priced compared to counterparts from established competitors. Furthermore, Xiaomi delighted early adopters with an exclusive offer of 5,000 Founders Edition vehicles, enhancing the allure of the launch. Deliveries of the Founders Edition have already commenced, while other variants are slated to hit the roads by late April or May.
Xiaomi has undoubtedly crafted an enticing offering with the SU7. Characterized by a sleek and aerodynamic minimalist design, the vehicle promises generous interior space. Leveraging its prowess in technology, Xiaomi equips the SU7 with intelligent chassis control algorithms, ensuring a harmonious blend of dynamic performance and luxurious comfort. Extensive connectivity features further enhance the appeal, facilitating seamless integration with other Xiaomi devices and even extending support to Apple products.
The debut of the SU7 heralds the emergence of a formidable new player in the fiercely competitive EV landscape. The rapid influx of orders underscores this sentiment. Now, the focus shifts to Xiaomi’s ability to swiftly scale up production to meet the burgeoning demand, ensuring that eager customers do not lose patience and seek alternatives before taking delivery.
